A South Carolina couple is asking neighbors to stop calling the fire department to report their house on fire, because it is not on fire -- it just looks like it is.
Sam Lee and Amanda Riggins Peden say what appears to be a raging house fire is an elaborate Halloween display. But it's so realistic, with bright yellow flames and white smoke, that the fire department has received multiple calls from concerned neighbors. Each time, a fire truck was sent over to the house just to make sure there wasn't actually a real fire.
The couple turns on the display every night between 8 and 10 p.m. and asked people not to call 911. Reactions to the display have been mixed on social media with some expressing amazement at how realistic it looks, and others criticizing the couple for all the false alarms called in to the fire department. Also, what if some day there is a real fire? Will the fire department rush to the scene?Â
