Mickey Guyton delivered a stunning rendition of a history-making Christmas classic when she took the stage at the White House Tree Lighting this holiday season. The powerhouse singer-songwriter donned a shimmering gown as she performed Brenda Lee’s late 1950s hit, “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.”

“Christmas is such a fun time of year! I loved hosting the White House Tree Lighting as we sang the holiday songs we all know and love,” Guyton gushed in her caption as she shared a clip of that moment on Instagram. Guyton, who also hosted the holiday event, was one of many artists to take the stage, along with Darren Criss, Samara Joy, Ledisi, Reneé Rapp, St. Vincent, Joe Walsh, and Dionne Warwick. The ceremony aired on Friday, December 15. The National Christmas Tree Lighting was first celebrated by President Calvin Coolidge in 1923.

Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” reached No. 1, and broke a few records. Lee, 79, became the oldest woman to reach No. 1, which was previously held by Cher, with “Believe” at age 52, and Mariah Carey, with “All I Want for Christmas Is You” at age 53. Lee also now holds the record for the longest stretch of time between her first and most recent No. 1, per Universal Music Group Nashville. Lee previously said in a statement: “The song came out when I was a young teenager and now to know that it has resonated with multiple generations and continues to resonate – it is one of the best gifts I have ever received. Keep on Rockin’ and Merry Christmas!”
